Art Description
- Living with Conviction: Sentenced to Debt for Life in Washington State is a collection of photographic portraits and personal narratives of formerly incarcerated individuals who are struggling to survive and thrive under the debt of legal financial obligations (LFOs), which courts impose on criminal defendants at the time of sentencing. LFOs accrue interest at a rate of 12%, which means that by the time a person gets out of prison, their debt has increased substantially. Failure to make monthly payments may result in arrest.
