Partnerships in Action

Spokane Public Library, while funded by the general fund through the City of Spokane, also benefits from the generous donations of many.

The Friends of the Library and the Spokane Public Library Foundation are two nonprofit organizations that exist solely to support the library’s mission to deliver high quality education for all.

The Friends of the Library is a nonprofit organization that has a bookstore in the downtown library where customers can purchase used books at bargain prices. Those dollars are then reinvested into the library.

Spring Book Sale

Twice a year, the Friends of the Library have a book sale, and we encourage you to stop by our downtown branch to buy a few books and support Spokane Public Library.

The Spring Book Sale runs March 30 – April 2.

The Spokane Public Library Foundation is the other nonprofit to benefit the library. The Library Foundation is the avenue through which organizations and individuals can make cash donations that are tax-deductible along with will or estate gifts.

Second Annual Citizen Hall of Fame

http://www.spokanelibraryfoundation.org/citizen-hall-of-fame/ On April 14, the Library Foundation in partnership with the City of Spokane and Spokane Public Library will host the second annual Spokane Citizen Hall of Fame. This year we announced 18 finalists in six different categories—of which six individuals will be inducted into the Hall of Fame and receive a key to the city.

Today, we are pleased to announce the 2016 historic inductees who will be honored at the event as well. Those historic citizens who made significant contributions to the city of Spokane include: Father Joseph Cataldo, James and Eleanor Chase, Francis Cook, Bing Crosby, and Carl Maxey.
