Nominate Your Favorite Citizen Today!

The public nomination process for the Third Annual Citizen Hall of Fame is open until 5pm on February 1.

The guidelines are simple:

The individual has made a significant contribution to the betterment of Spokane.

Citizens will be honored for their achievements in the following categories:

  • Arts and Letters: For activities that enhance and support the artistic/cultural and literary life and well-being of the community
  • Economic Development and Business: For entrepreneurial activity or significant contributions toward the economic betterment of Spokane
  • Education: For enriching and inspiring lifelong learning in our community
  • Innovation and Leadership: For activities that cultivate strong innovation and leadership city-wide
  • Public Service and Philanthropy: For exemplary voluntary and public service activities that benefit the community
  • Science, Health, and Medicine: For individuals who have made significant contributions in the area of science or medicine

The Citizen Hall of Fame is a partnership between the Spokane Public Library Foundation, the City of Spokane, and the Spokane Public Library. The funds raised from this event will be used toward growing the library’s business and entrepreneurial services to create adaptable, flexible spaces and tools for citizens to come together to collaborate with one another and learn.


Donate for the One Day Count

collection_binsIn partnership with the City of Spokane, the Downtown and Shadle branches of the Spokane Public Library have collection bins to gather donations of clothing and other materials to aid the homeless in Spokane. Donations will be collected until January 23 and distributed at the City’s One Day Count on January 26th.

The City is looking for the following donations:

  • Socks
  • Hats
  • Hand and foot warmers
  • Winter jackets and coats
  • First aid supplies
  • Bus passes
  • Diapers
  • Cat and dog food
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Dish soap
  • Blankets

Collection bins are also at City Hall and the Downtown Spokane Partnership.

Presented by Jon Louis, President Leadership Training International and Cynthia Cilyo, MD, this series will have three classes in January and three in February.
