Jo-Ann Button paints under her maiden name, Jo-Ann Fiscus. “I have painted off and on since high school all while joining the Army, raising a family, fighting cancer and having grandkids to spend time with – 4 of which are up and coming artists! My dad was also a great artist. He taught me a lot over the years about life and painting.”

Fiscus’s favorite subjects are flowers, the beach and trees. She paints on canvas (3”X3” up to 16”X20”), seashells, oysters, scallops, sand dollars, wood, slate, curtains – just about anything. She even painted wisteria on an Adirondack chair her father made. Her main materials include mostly acrylics but also some watercolor.

Fiscus has shown in several crafts shows over the years, 2 sidewalk festivals and in a few restaurants. She is always taking photos of things she deems exciting to paint. She says, “My favorite flowers are Texas wildflowers; my favorite beach scenes are in Maine; and my favorite trees are here in Spokane.”

“I hope to paint till I can’t see anymore or hold a paintbrush! I give all credit to God for giving me this talent and love of nature.”
